Today marked the beginning of our new schedule for the Food Pantry and Clothing Closet! We were able to welcome our neighbors into this new times as word is already being passed.
The team of folks who make this possible deserve a gigantic word of gratitude: THANK YOU! It speaks volumes of our community that we are willing to interrupt our rhythm and routine to respond to the needs articulated by those around us. For ever volunteer that is shifting their schedule or making new time in your calendar to serve -- THANK YOU!
There is still plenty of opportunity to serve in the month of October. You can sign up here, or in the narthex after worship on Sunday.
September itself was a busy month. We served 152 individuals in the clothing closet and 116 in the food pantry (42 of which were children). The time we give to God's service is a blessing, and fundamentally changes lives.

Announcements
October Ministry Sign-up - As Monday's update on the Great Food Pantry Experiment mentioned, we are responding to what we learned and are updating our hours to better fit the needs of our neighbors. If you would like to sign up to volunteer in a ministry slot for the month of October, please sign-up here.
Bible Study - Our fall Bible Study is off next Thursday while Fr. Scott is at the General Board of Examining Chaplains meeting. For the following week, we will be studying The Parable of the Weeds (Matthew 13:24-30).
Winter Warmth Project - If you are interested in supporting this year's winter warmth project, consider purchasing one of these items, here. They are shipped directly to the Church. Notice - if you purchase these, it will show you that it will be sent to "Scott Parnell in Binghamton NY" -- this is the correct thing.
October's Second Sunday of Service - On Sunday, October 12, we will be repackaging dish soap, Windex, and 409 to be given our with our Neighborhood Basics Hygiene Project. The bottles will need to be filled and labeled -- a great task for an assembly line! We will also have Naloxone kits that need to be stuffed.
St. Andy's Workday - On October 20, we will have our next St. Andy's workday at the Church. We will be removing AC units, replacing ceiling tiles, and painting the Chapel. Please email Susan MacLennan at standys@christchurchbinghamton.org to let us know you're planning on coming. Exact time TBD.
"See Me, Hear Me, Treat Me" - Save the date of Sunday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m. as we join with Trinity-Memorial to hear information gathered at a recent listening session on the experience of homelessness in Broom County. In addition to the presentation, we will be celebrating the arrival of Trinity-Memorial's new Priest-in-Charge, the Rev. Cole Gruberth.
All Soul's Requiem - Save the date of Monday, November 2, as we mark All Souls Day with the Episcopal Congregations of the Southern Tier. This service will be a traditional requiem, with an abbreviated homily and time for reflective prayer. Parishioners from across the Southern Tier congregations will offer short reflections on the challenges of our times. This will be a time to lay bare your concerns, fears, anxieties, and griefs and offer them up to God.
Flooring in the Chapel - A few folks have asked about carrying the LVP that is in the chapel throughout the upper level of the parish house (the hallway outside the chapel and towards the elevator, as well as the Great Hall). We reached out to the folks who did the work, and they estimate it to be just over $32,000. If you are interested in supporting this in the future, please let Fr. Scott know.
Ministry Opportunity - If you are interested in corresponding with a lonely incarcerated individual (that used to spend a lot of time on our Green Space), please let Fr. Scott know.
Katie’s Closet - This ministry is flourishing with an increasing amount of both patrons and donations!! As a result, we find we are in need of more volunteer staff. It is an extremely fulfilling opportunity for anyone who enjoys giving back to the community. It is entirely possible to volunteer for as little as an hour a month. Please prayerfully consider joining us in our very much needed mission. Diane Button - the volunteer coordinator - can be contacted at katiescloset@christchurchbinghamton.org.
Christ Church Shirts - If you would like to order a Christ Church t-shirt (short or long sleeve), you can order one here (and have it shipped directly to your house)!

Pastoral Care Training - The Diocese of Central New York is offering Pastoral Care training to lay persons interested in pastoral care ministries. Taught by Dr. April Stace, this program will equip participants with foundations in pastoral presence, deep listening, responding to difficult situations, recognizing the limits of our role, and knowing when and how to connect someone with additional support.
