A Video Welcome

Christ Episcopal Church is an Episcopal community of faith that has worshipped in downtown Binghamton, New York since 1810. As we look to the future, we are committed to service, formed by the faith, and centered on worship. All are welcome at Christ Church, whatever your tradition, wherever you are on your journey of faith. Join us for worship each Sunday at 10:00 a.m. in the Historic Church or for educational class at 11:30 a.m. in the Great Hall.

Serving our Community

Christ Church is committed to serving our neighbors in Binghamton. We facilitate three umbrella programs with multiple ways to be involved. Our CHOW Pantry and Katie’s Closet run year round — with each program serving clients during the third and fourth weeks of the month. There are opportunities for hands-on involvement and way to support these ministries, even from afar. Our Winter Warmth Project ramps up during the colder months; but, individuals will knit and gather gloves and scarves and hats throughout the year.

We also advocate on the behalf of our unhoused neighbors, primarily by raising awareness and challenging stigmas around unhoused persons.  We are committed to providing for our unhoused neighbors in the ways that we are able, in accordance with our faith.

Our unhoused neighbors are human beings, worthy of love and respect – independent of the choices or circumstances that led to their loss of stable housing.  We meet them where they are, without judgment or pretense.

What do we believe?

  • We are reconcilers in the world, and for the world. God’s love is for all people – no exceptions. As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to the ministry of reconciliation, bringing people closer to God and one another.
  • We balance ancient and modern. Our worship is rooted in the historic practices of the Church while also evolving to address modern spiritual and societal needs.
  • We value intellectual engagement. We encourage both faith and reason, allowing for questioning, discussion, doubt, and exploration of theology, ethics, and scripture. We value tradition but do not insist on rigid doctrinal interpretations.
  • We are committed to social justice and inclusion. We advocate for social justice, care for the marginalized, and work for peace and reconciliation in society. We welcome all people, regardless of background, gender, sexual orientation, or personal history.
